A note for Jeffrey Archer
At last I finished reading of Jeffrey Archer's 'First Among Equals'
yesterday. Although this book is not very long (366 pages), I do not
have enough time to read since I have graduated from uni and begun to
work. Moreover I have usually three or four books that I try to read
simultaneously, which makes finishing of a book even more sporadic.
With regard to the 'First Among Equals', I am really sad that it's all
over and I won't be able to follow another stories of the four
likeable politicians. From the beginning I had a chaos who is who, but
it has quickly emerged as my favourite book and I have been wishing
well to all four heroes, no matter what party they belong to. Oh, yes,
Charles Seymour wasn't very nice person for the first 300-320 pages of
the book.
What I want to do is to express my disillusion and disappointment
about the very ending of this great novel. Those, who haven't read it,
will not know, but the last sentence came as a shock to me. Raymond
Gould was a fine chap, but I wanted Simon Kerslake to become Prime
Minister! he deserved it! It's not fair! I protest!
But I must admit that Lord Archer proved to be a genial writer and I
heartily recommend this his book. Although it is 23 years since he has
written it.
Now I am looking forward to the Cameron's Trilogy - Kieron O' Hara's
After Blair: David Cameron and the Conservative Tradition, Francis
Elliott and James Hanning's Cameron: The Rise of the New Conservative
