Today's Cartoon: Enron's Jeffrey Skilling Sentenced to 24 Years in Prison
Now, I'm not saying that former Enron CEO Jeffrey Skilling should
fake his own demise in order to avoid going to prison; but if you
consider that his colleague and co-conspirator Kennth Lay just had
his convictions quashed after his (supposed) passing, then chances
are the thought has already crossed his mind.
While the court has ordered Mr. Skilling to remain at his home and
wear an electronic monitoring device around his ankle until he
finally goes to prison, you'd think that the judge would consider
him to be more of a flight risk, especially considering the
suspicious circumstances surrounding Ken Lay's untimely
"departure" and subsequent "acquittal".
To be honest, I'd be more surprised Jeffrey Skilling actually goes
to prison then I would be if some time between now and then, he
were attacked by a stingray or trampled by a herd of angry
unicorns. I mean, if all that is keeping him from staying out of
prison and having his convictions overturned is the "belief" that
he is alive, then what does he have to lose by trying to convince
the world otherwise?... Especially if you consider everything that
